Urban Courtyard

The clients of this courtyard garden wanted a modern, stylish, contemporary space which acted as an extension to their living environment of the house. Direct access to the garden was provided by fully extending the balcony across the back of the house and installing a spiral staircase. Outside dining and relaxation areas were required, along with sculptural and water elements, with a low maintenance planting scheme.

A Potter’s Retreat

A garden studio was at the heart of this 1930’s property redesign - creating a space for the client to rediscover a love of throwing pots. Using strong geometry to reflect that of the interior of the house, a calming and relaxing environment through a more naturalistic planting palette was developed. The clients could either potter, tending to the plants or sit and take advantage of the morning sun on the breakfast terrace. A space at the rear of the garden was also created to encourage the clients out, providing an entertainment/lounge area in the late afternoon sun. The bottom of the garden also provides some much needed storage area

Modern Country Garden

A redesign of both the front and rear garden to this recently extended property needed to incorporate an extended terrace area as well as a second terrace to catch the late afternoon to evening sun. A large vegetable plot with greenhouse was also on the clients wish list for them to become a little more self sufficient.

Set in a village location, a modern country feel design was developed with large planting beds, formal pond, oak arbours, limestone paving and gravel. The addition of birch trees surrounding the evening terrace provided extra privacy and gave a more relaxed woodland feel for when relaxing around the fire pit.

Entertaining Garden

Entertaining was at the heart of this sloping 2.5 acre garden with dining, relaxation and a hot tub all to be incorporated along with a natural pond at the lower, far end of the garden. More privacy from neighbours and from a public footpath running along the length of the garden was also required whilst keeping views to open fields.

Retaining walls and steps were built enabling us to create cocooned areas for privacy as well as dealing with the changes in level on the site. Screening of the sunken seating areas with the use of trees and hedges in the planting helped to create a sense of privacy along with a bespoke metal arbour situated over the decked hot tub area.
